Default Using Effects

In my overall experience both as a listener and as a player, effects when playing are like garlic when cooking.....a little bit goes a long way. They may be fun to use and/or experiment with as a player but I still contend that a little bit goes a long way. Also the more basic the better overall. Unless, I find a weird sound in a multi effects pedal that just happens to augment a particular song overall clean, dirty, chorus and reverb are my basic staples on gig night and those are used sparingly.

I have to actually agree with Rick here ..
When using effects they are to add to the flavor of the music, not to over saturate the song. When you get a new effect you tend to go a bit overboard when using it for awhile until you get used to what exactly you what that particular effect to do to your music. Just remember .. alittle DOES go ALONG way ..

Default Effects overuse and general sound

Never overuse effects! Same difference really, effects overkill is effects overkill. Unless of course you want that true jefferson airplane sound hehe
