Thumbs up RE: We are all Moderators In Moderation.......

To my Distinguished Colleague Snake (haahaha .. yea right .. hahaha):

I'm glad that you are finally agreeing with my points about finding another career, or at least another aspect of this wonderful Industry that we all are involved in. There are many other ways that 'One' can contribute to the music business .. here are a few:

DJ - This requires having some sort of personallity. You have to be likeable for the air waves .. or you can go spin CD's at a club if you wish, personallity comes into play here as well .. You got it or you don't ...

BOOKING AGENT - Booking shows and contracting band, artists, DJ's etc. This requires having a good and 'perky' personality. You got it or you don't ...

PROMOTIONS - Promoting shows in certain venues. This requires some time and alot of energy and knowhow .. You can take this one to many different levels from local bands to National Acts. Again .. You got it or you don't ...

GROUPIE - This is someone that follows a certain band or artist everywhere they go trying to get down their pants. This I think, requires having a good look about you and a charming personallity that would make me want to jump your bones. Once again .. you have it or you don't ...

Thre are a few differemt Ideas for you all to ponder over for the next few days while I am in North Carolina playing my music (Please Vists pittsburghrocker.com for further info).

Rick, I am all of the above .. depending on the situation .. plus as you know .. a full time musician/entertainer. And .. we aren't fighting .. we are just conversating. That's what this is here for, right? Anyhow .. where do you fall in the list??
And, one more thing, do you agree or disagree with the statements? I'm curious as to what your oppinion is ...

I've been a little bit of all of them (except the groupie) when the spirit moves me & I find it moving me again lately a bit. I've been a booking agent (for myself and for a few others here...for no money...the others that is...even tho most have been apreciative enough to throw something my way). I've been a performer...again when the spirit moves me & it seems to be slightly moving me again lately.....I've been a DJ....but only when the money is good (($500+ for a couple of hours) or when I am moved by a certain charitable event (free or close to free).
I have been a promoter ...and a very good one...again when I am personally moved by the people/situation.
There is one woman here in town that is very very talented (& I mean Nationally Talented level) who is cute as the dickens, who I have a nice warm aquaintenenceship with who I wouldn't mind being a groupie of ....LOL. Actually she plays all over the area and in 3 years I've only caught a part of her show 2x and enjoyed it. I'm not sure if that makes me a groupie (acording to your definition) but I like her music and her persona, & when I have free time (which is rare) & I'm in the area I like to pop in and am always welcomed warmly.
My comments ("kiddies kiddies etc") were made sort of toungue in cheek since I know a little background....I may b down here but not completely out of the loop.....and my question was toungue in cheek/rhetorical.

You know me...I gravitate towards the "real job" arena and usually play only when I anticipate lots of fun or lots of money or a combo of both.

Default Don't Lose Them in the First 30 Seconds

The basics are well laid out here. I really surprised myself when I wrote my first song when I was 24. I wrote a poem called "Merlin" as verse 1, verse 2, chorus, verse 3, verse 4, bridge, chorus, verse 5 and chorus. It took me several renditions of music to find what I liked but once I did I stuck with it. The song was finally recorded and can be heard on spunjacked.com as "Merlynz Opus".

I have been a life long fan of music, especially the band Rush, who always took great care in the arrangements of their highly structured songs. I often would study their lyrics and listen their songs over and over again. They along with such bands as Led Zeppelin and Yes have made me the imaginative songwriter that I am today.
